Dear Oticon:

I am a police officer who has recently switched to Adapto hearing aids. I had hearing aids for approximately five years and in my line of work, I needed an upgrade so that I could hear people’s voices more clearly. I felt I needed to be able to communicate as clearly as possible when interfacing with the public as a police officer. I am very happy with my Adaptos. The adjustment I had with Adapto was very quick. I didn’t realize the clarity I was missing and how much of an improvement I would immediately feel. It has truly enhanced my work life.

With Adapto, I am allowed to appreciate distinct,  different voices. I’ve noticed that, coming from the South, my pronunciation of words is sometimes mumbled and garbled together. Over the years, because of my hearing impairment, I’ve noticed that I was getting a lazy tongue, because I wasn’t hearing myself properly pronouncing words. Now I can take the time to listen to myself again and improve on my speech patterns. I notice with other people’s voices I can now hear distinctions. That is the biggest advantage for me.

Every year I am asked to play Santa Claus for charitable functions in our town. This year, I was in a crowded hotel lobby, with about 300 children. They were all screaming to see Santa Claus. I could hear almost perfectly for the first time since I started having a hearing problem. There was a remarkable difference this year in that I could hear little boys’ and little girls’ voices clearly and understand their names and what they wanted for Christmas. It made the event even more meaningful for me to be able to have a two-way conversation with these wonderful children for the first time in five years.

My wife, Kathryn, has noticed a difference because when we go out to social functions and movies, I’m not standing close to her saying, "what did he say, what did he say …". She appreciates the difference and that I’ve done something to improve my hearing loss. Adapto has made our life together even better!!

I just wanted to write and tell you how happy I am with Adapto.
